Race for the Cure
5k @ the Boston Seaport World Trade Center
Yesterday a group of us cute gals from Boston ran in the Race for the Cure 5k, along with around 6,000 other participants. It was very crowded and pretty chaotic at first, but once the race started going things thinned out quite a bit. The weather was perfect for running and I was hoping for a good time. The problem was I had spent most of last week fighting a cold and wasn't at my best. I was determined to run the race no matter what. Due to my leaky faucet nose and coughing fits, I was really only able to run 2-2.5 miles and had to walk the rest, but I give me an A for effort.
Berkeley showing his support to find a cure for Breast Cancer.
It was neat to see so many people out running or walking to support this important cause. Breast Cancer took the life of Christian's grandmother, and I have seen the struggle it has been as our neighbor Charlotte fought it and is now watching her daughter and niece make the fight as well. Breast Cancer has effected so many people; I remember passing a man yesterday who was running for his wife and it was such a sweet moment.
Here we are after the race feeling pretty happy that the race is OVER.
I think I will take a break from running 5ks until next Spring at least, I really don't like to be outside in the cold running, so most of my running this winter will be done at the gym I'm afraid.
I have realized that I can really do anything if I put my mind to it.

I have to give a shout out to my friend Kelly who watched Berke during the race, thanks Kelly, you are da Bomb!

Hey Laci,
The race I am running on Thanskgiving day is the turkey 5K in SLC. That would be awesome if you came and ran it too! It would be fun to see you.
Good job on your running too...isn't so much fun and a little bit tortuous at the same time :)
Hope to see you on Thanksgiving Day!!

Okay so I looked up the turkey run and we are not sure yet which one we will be running for sure...there are a couple of options that day...so when I find out for sure, I will let you know! The ones in SLC are actually 6K's.
