FALL FESTIVITIES

Fall in New England really is something magnificent. It is unlike any other place I have been; the colors are so unbelievable, there are wonderful traditions around apple picking and leaf peeping, etc. Two years ago we spent a weekend in Vermont during the fall; I was pregnant and it was the perfect little get away. We didn't go last Fall, but decided we wanted to stay at the same cabin again this year. This time we would be bringing our little bundle of joy as well as our friends, Nicole and Ryan.

We headed up Friday late afternoon and were able to see a lot more color change on the trees than we had anticipated. We got to the cabin and Christian started a fire in the wood burning stove. Me and my little guys watched Elmo and snuggled.

We had a really relaxing, fun, funny, delicious and beautiful time. Here are the colors so far and it is not even peek season yet!

It was nice to get out of the city and enjoy some nature; to have room for Berkeley and McDuff to roam around and not have to worry about them. Berke found a true love for sticks, as they are great for drumming. He was such a happy camper.

We drove and got lost, drove and got lost a little more, but then we back tracked and FINALLY found the quaint little apple orchard we had been searching for. It was a small orchard with Cortland and Empire apples; we were the only people there half the time, it was lovely.
Berke enjoyed apple picking SOOOOO much. He kept saying, "apple" then would use all his strength to pick the apple off the tree, take a bite, throw it on the ground and repeat.
This kid was in pure heaven.

We visited the town of Brattleboro and enjoyed the little shops and even saw a lady walking a baby pig around town. (that my friends, is something you just don't see on a daily basis!)

We headed back to the cabin for an evening of chili, cornbread, apple crisp, dancing, card games and trying to get Oreos from our foreheads to our mouths without using our hands. It is a pretty humorous past time. I love how peaceful Christian looks. We even took some time to make smores with recees peanut butter cups and it was AMAZING!!!

Sunday we enjoyed hot apple cider with apple cider donuts (simply wonderful). We had a nice nap/reading time, and then headed out for a short hike to Hamilton Falls. Due to the lack of summer rains, the fall wasn't too amazing, but it was pretty nonetheless.

It was a wonderful weekend full of FALL festivities. We enjoyed our wonderful company and will have to do this kind of trip again next year. I think it may have been one of my favorite trips of the year!
