Snowed-in and Sick

This week has been the pits. Tuesday night I came home excited that I wouldn't have to work on Wednesday due to the massive snow storm that was about to hit. I came in and got all cozied up never to see the outside world again until Saturday afternoon. I had grand plans to take Berke out to play in the snow on Wednesday, but the weekly "nursery attending" cold came on and I couldn't justify taking my sick kid out. So we played in the house and watched the snow from indoors. I thought we would get some family time in, but Christian decided to become a dedicated gym rat this week and walked to the gym amid the snow storm against my better judgment. He then worked on some school stuff. When the time arrived for our designated family time, Christian was called to duty to help shovel out our little elderly neighbor. There was a lot of heavy snow so this took quite a bit of time. Somehow the day came and went and it was all a blur. My grand plans of family time somehow slipped through my fingers.

Thursday morning around 3:00 a.m. I was greeted with the lovely foul smell of toilet bowel. The rest of the day was spent in or on the toilet, in or on the bed, and laid out flat on my back. I managed to keep down two pieces of toast by the end of the day. I mustered up enough energy that night to watch the movie Inception with my husband, then back to bed.
This truly is (wo)man's best friend. This dog only left my bed side to go potty and eat. He didn't go out initially until nearly noon, which is huge since his regular morning potty is around or before 7:00 a.m.
Friday morning, I woke up feeling better and decided to go into work. I was all ready for work, I seemed to be able to keep my cheerios down, so Christian started up the car. I start loading my bag and it hits again, WAZAM! Back to and on the toilet I go and back in bed I stay. Oh JOY!
Christian did a fabulous job holding down the fort and entertaining the kid so I could get some rest. I received terrible news about my Grandma being hit by a car in a parking lot, which was upsetting. These are the times I hate to be so far from family. She is doing well and in the hospital recovering. Friday night there seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel and we were able to watch the Whip It.

Saturday morning I awoke feeling much better. Not quite ready to hit the gym yet, but ready to live life and GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! I thought about it and remember Berke hadn't been out of the house since Monday and I had been in since Tuesday night. So we got all snow geared up while Christian was teaching his piano students, and headed outdoors.
This is what Aunt Nean ended up buying Berke for his birthday. Aren't these boots the cutest?
Man it is a lot of work to get a kid ready for the snow. It was worth it to watch the kid waddle around in his snow suit up and down the street, as he greeted the snow with giggles and annoyance.
Oh victory of fresh air; you never surprise me with your ability to fill the lungs with happy thoughts and the will to live again!
I needed to get out more, so I did a quick Target run when Christian got home. This always does the trick to make me feel good again. I got home and Christian took off to Hartford, CT for the day to do some recording for a new piece he is working on. Berke and I played the rest of the day! It is amazing to see how much more he is able to use his imagination these days. His Sesame Street stuffed animals are his little friends and he puts them in chairs and shares his toys with them. It is really quite adorable.

The kid is also obsessed with the iPad and is asking for the "apple" nonstop. He loves the color, alphabet, drawing, song games we have for him a little too much. This is the exact reason I never wanted video games in my house, but it looks like I am gonna have the same problems with these technological devices; I am not sure I have a way out of this between Christian and my dad.
Saturday night Christian called to inform me that he is now coming down the the stomach bug I had, YUCK! I watched the movie The Back Up Plan while waiting for him to get home.
So yep, usually I watch about 1 movie a month if I am lucky and the past 4 days I watched 3! It has just been one of those weeks. I hoping for a much better week this week!
