From Lexington to Concord

This weekend Christian and I decided to drive the Revolutionary War Trail. There is so much to do and see in this city and we are bound and determined to see as much of it as we can. Anyone who visits the Boston area this is a beautiful drive; the historic homes and scenery is really quite fabulous! There are a few free museums and visitors centers along the drive that are set up very nicely. Christian and I both agree that we learned more about the Revolutionary War in 4 hours that we ever did in any of our schooling. It is kind of sad that schools don't teach much about the founding of our country. It gave me a lot of respect the families who fought to have our country be free. After the Boston Tea Party, England completely closed off the port to Boston, allowing no goods of any type to get to these settlers as a punishment. Outlining cities had to bring them food and water to help them get through these difficult times. There are many great stories about this war really. Here are a few pictures of our trip. I found some really hot minutemen along the trail!

Bostonians are we!

We are officially living in the great state of Massachusetts! It is no doubt the hardest state to spell out of all 50 states if you ask me! Christian and I have been together in Boston for about a month and we are enjoying all the time we have together (considering neither one of us is working or in school currently!). We have had time to check out the city and do some fun things. We had some friends come into town who had a connection with Captain Jack Sparrow and they were able to get us on a sunset sail on the Boston Harbor. It was a beautiful and breathtaking experience.
We also took an hour trip to New Hampshire to go to Hampton Beach. It is a beautiful beach in a cute little town that came right out of a movie. I can see us spending much more time there!
We are really excited about all the adventures that Boston allows us to have! We are getting more used to using our legs than our wheels. We are also getting used to a life without fast food, as there is none in the Cambridge area, and to our little old house that we live in with all of it perks! It is very different that what we are used to but we think we will really enjoy it.
Our ward is a fun one; it is full of young families where one of the spouses is attending Harvard or MIT. So it is very intellectual and I just sit and listen and sometime wonder what people are even talking about. It should be a pretty interesting experience; we look forward to getting callings in this ward and serving soon.
As far as work, Christian will start school and teaching piano at the beginning of September. I am still looking for work on a daily basis. I have applied now for over 85 jobs in the last 5 months. I have had several interviews and I'm hoping that something will work out very soon. Talking to different people at church and around the city it is very difficult to get a job here due to being so densely populated. Many of the students that graduate from the 20+ colleges around here tend to stick around and want jobs as well. We know that we have done everything we can do and that Heavenly Father is looking out for us.
We are excited about this whole blog thing and think it'll be a great way to keep everyone up to date on what is going on!
