Weekendness

I was one of those crazy TWILIGHT fans that bought my ticket a month ago to see the movie on opening day. This review pretty much sums it up for me! http://www.nurturingnarcissism.com/2008/11/that-crap-movie-i-saw-this-weekend.html
Even thought the movie didn't reach my low expectations, I sure did have a great time hanging out with my gal pals and laughing through those unbearably uncomfortable parts.
Four of us met up for dinner before the show and then met the six other ladies for the movie. Here we are (Bonnie, Marci, Jhordan, and me) waiting in the long line that I was sure should have been teenagers, but ended up being 90% women in their 20's and 30's.

Saturday was our ward Thanksgiving Dinner event that the EQ puts on. Christian was in charge of the event and it was a bit stressful, but I have to say it turned out to be a pretty successful event.

Our ward has lots and lots of BYU grads so we were sure to represent our UTES during the event! We played a fun ward game of jeopardy and our really awesome team won the game!!! It was only a sign of things to come with the big
BYU vs. UofU game.

We couldn't find anyone with the right cable station to watch the big game that evening, so we headed to a sports bar/grill. When we arrived we were excited to see a big crowd of Utes and Cougars watching the game together. We joined in the party and afterward took a picture of all the Ute Alumni! Yep, I only know 3 of these people, but found out that one of the guys in the picture is one of Maren's old boy toys from her days at the UofU. Small world huh?

Our little Ute family! It brought me so much joy to watch those Cougars get killed!

Dwight?

You OFFICE lovers will enjoy this story.

We recently had our apartment de-leaded in preparation for the little guy. Last week the inspector came to the house to make sure that all the work was done correctly. The inspector is somewhat of a character and a chatter box; he sees Christian's Dwight Schrute bobble head on the computer. It looks like this:

Then he says to Christian, "Wow, cool! You have a bobble head of yourself?!?!" Christian tried to explain to him that it was Dwight from the Office but this guy was totally lost! I couldn't help but crack up.

What do you think, does my cute hubby look like Dwight Schrute?

Baby Shower Extravaganza!!!

Here I am, 31 weeks pregnant and as sexy as ever!!
(Is it humanly possible for anyone to feel sexy at this stage of the game?)

This weekend my wonderful friends threw me a baby shower. I was so humbled by the amount of work that went into planning the big event, how much time people took out of their busy schedules to come to the shower, how much money they spent on buying my baby presents, and just how wonderful my friends out here really are! I feel so lucky to know so many wonderful women, and I know that I will be supported well out here when my little guy comes, even though we will be away from our immediate families.

All of the scrumptious food was a memorable part of the shower. Kate made these mini cheesecakes that were PERFECT!

We had fruit, scones, cupcakes, cheesecakes, Bree, quiche, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, tea, hot cocoa, OJ, hot apple cider. Thanks to everyone who worked hard baking away, the treats were amazing; and to everyone who brought food and drinks!

Here are some of my co-workers that came to the shower, Anne-Kristen, me, Gloria, and Kelly. I don't know what I would do to survive at my job without people like this to make me laugh all the time!

We played some hard core "Baby Shower Bingo" while I opened my baby gifts. People wrote in things they thought I would get and then they could mark them off as I went. I thought it was a pretty creative idea; it keeps people interested in what the presents are at least!

We received so many wonderful gifts!! This was one of my favorites! Everyone expects that C will put it up and be playing with it long before the baby even arrives. We also got our baby swing, lots of adorable clothes, home made booties and winter beanie, bibs, toys, bath time goods, and fun books. Elizabeth got us a book called "Tails" and the very last page it describes how some tails are stinky, it has a scratch and sniff sticker to smell a skunk tail. I can't bring myself to smell that thing, as my recent skunk encounters are just too fresh and traumatic! Too funny!

Realization

Today I had the day off for Veterans Day; it was so nice to sleep in, do chores around the house, work on some Christmas crafts, and be lazy. I had few realizations today however:

1. Having a day off is a lot funner when Christian is home to spend the day with.

2. I go through a lot more toilet paper when I am home all day; I am going to need to stock up at Costco when I am on maternity leave.

3. There is nothing to watch on TV during the day!

I really think these are all things I already knew and have been reminded of again this Patriotic day.

Skunk'd

This smelly nasty creature ruined my night last night!
After a long day of work on the house, I let McDuff outside to run around in the back yard. Christian had just left to attend a concert at Brandeis, and Duff and I were going to do some more work on the house. I noticed that McDuff was barking a lot more than usual, so I went to check on him. It was dark in the backyard and I heard some wresting at the bottom of our porch steps; I told Duff to stop barking and walked over to see and SMELL a skunk!!!!
I went into immediate FREAK OUT MODE!!! Here I was trapped on my porch, unable to get to my dog, as this spraying skunk was trying to pick a fight with my family. Luckily McDuff was a bit freaked out as well, and listened to me as I told him to stay, as to not get sprayed any more. I called Christian immediately and told him to turn around and come home, his help would be needed.
Long story short, we got our skunk sprayed dog out of the backyard, Christian had to throw away his oil sprayed clothing he was wearing, McDuff got THREE baths (one in hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap), and the spray smell was gone from our dog, house, clothes, and eventually our backyard.

It was quite the ordeal, one I never thought I would have to deal with in a big city like Boston, and one I hope I will NEVER have to deal with again. The smell of a skunk up close and personal is not something anyone should have to endure, NO GOOD!!!!

EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER!

And thus, there was a fair maiden who was 29 weeks pregnant. It came to pass that she was nesting, big time, and felt that her little babe would need a place to rest his head. Her noble prince charming, who was not a handy man, decided he would rise to this task and make sure the soon to be born little babe would indeed have a place he could call his own.

The noble prince worked all of Halloween night with his good friends Sir Danly and Madame Lisa, to clean and prepare this little resting place. They scrubbed walls, moved furniture and taped the walls in preparation for the hard work the following day. The prince and fair maiden were happy to have such wonderful friends to help prepare the room in such a manner.

The following morning the entire court arouse from the bed chambers early and began the task at hand @ 8:30 a.m. The wonderful King Adam and Queen Marci showed up to help; what noble royalty to help prepare the room for the little babe! Queen Marci and the noble prince began painting the room in the lovely color of peanut butter. It turned out to be a marvelous color for the chamber, indeed.
King Adam came in his street clothes so that he could assemble all of the little babe's IKEA furniture. The king was a true champion at putting these items together! He completed 2 dressers and a shelf, what would the fair maiden have done without such a handy king in the land?

Later that afternoon, the noble prince had another good friend, court jester Evan, show up to help assemble the sleeping space for the babe. What fine friends the prince and maiden have indeed!
The sleeping quarters appear to be ready for the little babe at this time; it is a very exciting time for the young parents. The entire kingdom has helped in the great effort and it has been much appreciated.

At 10:30 p.m. the noble prince was very tired! He had worked very hard for his fair maiden and his little unborn babe. His noble steed, McDuff, was there to comfort his good master after a long days work.

And thus, the young parents waited for the little babe, Berkeley, to make his appearance.

Halloween

Happy Halloween!
McDuff and I got dressed up Halloween evening briefly to go trick-or-treating to our neighbors.

This was a great costume that we got at All A Dollar; not bad for buck! Isn't he evil looking?

This is McDuff's other costume, it is a cute bat, but he HATED wearing it. He is not a big fan of things on his head! I just love dressing him up!
